Growing Up Fast: An Update on the Two Amur Leopard Cubs

From tiny newborns to curious, growing cubs, Irina’s little ones have been changing quickly. Now, as they continue to grow, their care team is beginning to see more of their individual personalities emerge.

The two Amur leopard cubs, Kingston (male) and Devon (female), were named by generous Zoo supporters Peter and Britt Melhado. We are grateful for their support and dedication to the Zoo’s mission.

The animal care team has started training with the cubs, and the two are beginning to come to a designated feeding station when requested, an important step as they become more comfortable eating independently. They are still nursing some but are starting to eat the same solid food as Irina and Basha, twice a day.

These milestones are an exciting accomplishment for the cubs, the Zoo’s animal care team and the species as a whole. They reflect the thoughtful, welfare-focused care that supports animals at every stage of life.

As Kingston and Devon become more independent, their individual personalities are beginning to shine through. Each new stage of development offers another glimpse into the unique individuals they are becoming, making it especially exciting to watch them grow.
