Our Future

This year, we’ll celebrate the grand opening of our all-new Farmyard, a dynamic space designed to engage children and families through hands-on learning and up-close encounters with domestic animals. This milestone marks the beginning of a long-term vision to transform the Zoo experience while staying true to our mission. Guided by a comprehensive strategic plan, we are prioritizing animal wellbeing, enhancing guest experiences, expanding educational programming, and advancing conservation initiatives. With every step forward, we remain committed to creating a sustainable, world-class zoo that inspires future generations and reflects the heart of Greenville.

The Phillips Family Farmyard

This new exhibit will feature a significant expansion to the current farmyard, including multiple barns, pastures, and education program areas. The new Phillips Family Farmyard also allows the Zoo to increase the species collection and provide animal contact for guests. The newly designed Phillips Family Farmyard will showcase farm animals used on farms around the world. These animals represent an irreplaceable piece of Earth’s biodiversity, just like their wild counterparts.

What’s Next?

The Greenville Zoo Foundation is committed to supporting a bold and imaginative future for the Zoo, one filled with expanded habitats, enhanced guest experiences, and meaningful opportunities for education and conservation. As we look beyond the Farmyard, the next phase of projects will continue transforming the Zoo into a more engaging, inclusive, and inspiring destination for all. These future enhancements will reflect the Zoo’s long-term vision while honoring its legacy as a place where families connect with wildlife, learn together, and make lasting memories.

Orangutan Habitat

This project will create an enriched, naturalistic habitat for critically endangered Sumatran orangutans, enhancing their care and encouraging species-appropriate behaviors.

It will also offer powerful opportunities for guests to connect with and be inspired to protect orangutans and their rainforest homes.
